The soul stones

For the canines, the humans showed them how the stones could be used to heal and strengthen those that wore them. For the felines, Vadik and Larue Katsaros had stumbled across the cavern where the soul stones grew. Either way, both species have spent years learning how to use and harness the powers that the soul stones possess.

When a pup or cub is born, one of their parents will make the journey to the Ektos Cavern where the soul stones grow and harvest enough stones for their offspring to each have one. From that day on, they will carry their soul stones with them where ever they go. Their stone is now a part of them and without it, they will become very weak and most likely die an early death. If a pup or cub doesn't have a stone retrieved for them as a baby, they can go and retrieve their own stone when they are old enough. But each creature, feline or canine, is only allowed one stone. They can not harvest another if they lose theirs and no other stone will work for them.

The soul stones have the ability to give their owner special abilities that can be unlocked as the owner grows and learns to channel and control the energy of their soul stone. As long as the owner is alive, their stone will glow the color of their soul stone level. If the owner was to die, only then would their soul stone stop glowing.

It is in times of emotional spikes that a new ability is commonly discovered. The stones have a direct line to their owner's emotions. When an owner gains a new ability, their soul stone will also change color to match the color of the new level that has been achieved. Each owner is different and will have different levels of control over their abilities.

As a stone owner moves through the levels, they retain the abilities they had gained from previous levels. This makes top level owners very powerful and possibly dangerous. And since the color of one's stone shows what level they are on, those that reach the higher dark or light levels will have their intentions clear for everyone to see since their stone will carry a white or gold color if good or a black or red color if evil.

If an owner is to lose their stone or have it taken or removed, they will immediately be weakened and will lose their abilities all together. Only when their stone has been put back on will they gain their enhanced strength and abilities back.

A soul stone can be carried by it's owner in any way they see fit. It can fitted into a piece of jewelry and worn on a crown, necklace or bracelet. It can be tied around one's neck with a piece of leather, string or rope. Some even carry it in a pouch so that the color is hidden from others. Just as long as it is kept on their person at all times, the owner will be strong, safe and have their abilities.
