Creamy ears twitched atop a maned head as his body stilled. The lion's eyes closed, a slow breath drawing through his nares as he listened to the forest bustling around him. There were no voices to be heard, just the quiet hum of the insects beneath the occasional chatter of birds. It was so quiet, so peaceful. This was the kind of home that the man had dreamed of, a place where he could be free from the noise of the city - he could actually hear himself think out here in the serenity of the jungle. He was finally free.
Dantai had prolonged his time in the city as long as he could, mostly for the sake of his parents. They had never been supportive of his wandering spirit and would've far preferred he stay on the same street he'd grown up on where he could live a merchant's life for the rest of his days. The complacency simply wasn't for him though, and on his sixth birthday the lion had decided to start his journey into the unknown. He'd been walking through the jungle for days, looking for a cave or something that would be suitable living quarters for him until he could get his bearings. He'd yet to find anything that fancied him, but just being out in the open was refreshing. He dropped his head, curling it behind him to cast a glance at the world he'd left behind. He'd miss him family, but the freedom was worth the loss. With a soft sigh pressing through his lips he started moving again, light-colored paws carrying him deeper into the emerald sea of the jungle.

Nayva didn't usually spend too much time in the jungle but lately she'd gotten herself into some trouble with some of the other low lives that lived in Naxorus and while she wasn't at all afraid of dealing with them, she just found the whole ordeal boring and wished to avoid it all together. That was how she had come to be in the jungle today. Lounging on the low hanging branch of a thick tree, her icy blue eyes were able to see a fair distance in either direction of her. That combined with the leaves of the tree hiding her from sight made it the perfect place for her to relax. Then if someone were to come along that she might want to toy with a bit, she'd be able to make her presence known without having to move an inch.
So far though, the jungle had been a pretty quiet place. Not a lot going on other than the birds and the bees making noise. Black jaws stretched wide in a yawn and her pink tongue curled before she closed her mouth and licked her chops, laying her head down on one of her front paws while her tail hung from her branch and the tip flicked a bit.
Letting her blue eyes close a bit, it was then that she caught the scent of a male nearby. She smelled him before she saw him and a moment later a large male lion stepped through the brush beneath her tree. Smirk lifting the corners of her mouth, Nayva lifted her head to inspect this newcomer before deciding whether she wanted him to know she was there or not. He seemed to not be part of the jungle life due to his coat and mane being in relatively well kept condition. Must have come from the city, she guessed.
"You lost, handsome?" She purred, looking down at him when he was just a few feet from where she lay, perched in her branch. Her usual sly smirk never left her face as her icy blue eyes looked him over.

Is there no shelter anywhere in this place? the brute thought, a grunt pressing through his lips as he trotted ever forward. He ducked and weaved, nimble paws maneuvering through the dense underbrush with ease. He was careful to avoid as much of the plantlife as possible, taking care to save the composure of his preened mane. One of the better aspects of the city was the availability of its resources; he'd certainly missed being able to clean himself on a whim. He was certain there would be a river somewhere nearby though, and with that he'd manage.
You lost, handsome? As he ducked beneath the thick leafy branches of yet another tree, the velvety sound of another's voice broke him from his thoughts. His head lifted, ears flicking to found the source of the sound as his eyes followed suit. They fell on the onyx silhouette draped lazily across a low-laying branch, her lips curled into a sly smirk as she watched him move. He lifted a brow ever so slightly, body stilling in front of her as he contemplated how to react. He let the silence stretch between them as he studied her for a moment; her dark fur was a stunning contrast to the azure markings scrawled across her body. She was more disciplined than him, he presumed, and his eyes instantly searching her form for her soul stone. His face remained astoundingly unchanged when he spotted the black pendant dangling from her neck, although beneath his pelt his body tensed. Dark magic he thought with a delicate mix of interest and apprehension. Her kind could be dangerous, even if she was nothing more than a jaguar.
"No, the jungle is my home," he said simply, voice feigning disinterest in her and her sultry attitude. "I could ask you the same."
She could tell that he wasn't sure what to think of her as his blue eyes scanned her as she sat on her tree branch. She knew that if he were to feel threatened and attack her, he'd have the upper hand simply because of his size. But she knew that her dark and deadly skills would give her the victory if she could manage to stay out from underneath him. If he were to pin her down then there wouldn't be a lot she could do about it. No matter, she was up above him and if he so much as tried to come after her, her speed would save her and possibly mean the end of him. Hell, her wings would be enough to get her to safety if he did end up being a faster climber than he looked.
While he was looking her over, she eyed him casually as well. He was large for his species but that didn't strike fear into her. A deep sigh escaped her body as she tilted her head to the side, becoming a bit bored by the long drawn out silence. Her eyes were watching his as she felt them roam over her body. And just as she was use to, his eyes stopped when they fell onto her black soul stone that hung around her neck. Smirk lifting the corners of her mouth even more, she rose to her paws on her perch and stretched her front legs out in front of her. Back curving downward as her hind end stuck up in the air, Nayva purred in amusement.
"You look a little too well kept to call the jungle your home." She replied, blinking slowly as her icy blue eyes came to rest on him once more. Sitting down on her branch, she wrapped her azure tipped tail around her front paws delicately. "Do I look lost to you, love." She teased him, smirk only growing as she tilted her head to the side and blinked slowly, far more interested in this male than she would ever admit.

His affinity for silence was something that set the young man apart from others of his kind. The silence that hung in the air between them was stiff and uncomfortable for most, creating an awkward air that didn't sit well. Dantai didn't notice it however, and rather thrived in it. There was little need to fill the quiet with meaningless chatter so the brute preferred to give thought to his words, to form them carefully and use them in a way that communicated without drawing conversations out longer than they needed to be. It was the facet of his personality that most found unsettling, and made him less than desirable company. Dantai certainly didn't seem to mind, however.
He lifted his brows as he caught her staring at him as well, for presumably different reasons than he. After all, his soul stone didn't speak of darkness and destruction just in its color, like hers did. Black was the middle ground, the shade between a distinguished feline of neutral passions and the red of the most ruthless killers. His head tilted, brows furrowing just a bit as he wondered just where in that spectrum her motivations lie.
You look a little too well kept to call the jungle your home. He shrugged casually, not about to let this cat know much more about where he'd come from. "Just because I live out here doesn't mean I can't take pride in my appearance," he replied coolly, relaxing into his stance a tad as he realized this jag wasn't going to let him leave too quickly. Do I look lost to you, love?
He caught the humor in her tone but decided not to lie. "No, but looks can be deceiving, no?" he questioned, raising a brow as his head turned just slightly to the side. Perhaps there was even a trace of a smirk playing on the corner of his lips.
She huffed a bit of a chuckle at his first comment, knowing she was probably right and he simply didn't want to reveal too much personal information about himself. Not that he needed to tell her anything, she was far too good at reading others. She let it go though, not really caring where he was coming from. Still seated on her branch, her icy blue eyes remained on him as he too got comfortable on the ground in front of her.
Her smirk became amused at his words and she licked her chops before glancing away briefly, weighing her words before saying them. "They can indeed. But don't worry honey, I'm far from lost." She answered, her sly smirk back on her muzzle as it usually was when she rose to her paws again. Eyes finding the ground, her branch wasn't that far from it and she jumped gracefully to the ground in front of him. Smirk still on her lips as she took a few steps towards him, her eyes looked him up and down once more, now that she was closer.
"So if you're not lost, then where are you headed?" She added, pausing in her steps closer and letting her eyes rest on him, no longer studying him or looking him over. Based on his soul stone only being a dark blue color, he was far from dangerous to her. Not when it came to the abilities he didn't possess. "Looking for someone to train you in your soul stone?" She questioned, tilting her head to the side a bit though her smirk never left her lips. "That seems to be the usual answer." She spoke mostly to herself with a roll of her eyes. Those that had no powers were weak.

He exhaled slowly through his nostrils, fighting the displeasure that her laugh caused him. Was she laughing at him? It wasn't unusual for him to want to look presentable; he wasn't a mangy dog, after all. He didn't intend to let himself slip just because he no longer lived in the luxury of Naxorus, and he thought it almost rude of her to expect him to look unkept just because he lived in the jungle. He didn't remark though, and instead merely watched her as she seemed utterly amused.
They can indeed. But don't worry honey, I'm far from lost. His lips pursed slightly as he shifted his gaze just slightly, looking into the thickness of the jungle as if he had somewhere else he'd rather be. "Good to know," he said evenly before he heard her movement and his head jerked back to watch her. He shifted his weight, squaring himself so that he could lift his head, almost proudly. He peered across at her, suffering her invasion stare without complaint as she stepped closer. His body stiffened ever so slightly, the tip of his tail flicking.
So if you're not lost, then where are you headed? He began to ready an answer but she'd paused only briefly before beginning to speak again. Looking for someone to train you in your soul stone? That seems to be the usual answer. Here was where his anger flared, his heartbeat increasing in response as he watched her roll her eyes with contempt. His lips pursed again, half lidded expression flat and unamused. "No, actually I can manage my soul stone studies on my own," he said before tilting his head, matching her posture almost as if to mock her. "I don't think you meet the qualifications to be much of a teacher," he said quietly as if the comment was mostly for himself. He knew she'd hear him though, and lifted his shoulders in a shrug.
Nayva could tell this male was far from fond of her. He was a bit different than most males she was use to coming across. There were usually one of two reactions that happened. The first was the males being intrigued by her and whatever darkness she may have though some were looking at everything else besides her stone. And the second involved them being wary and unsure of her, not seeing her as a huge threat do to her being a girl and all of that nonsense. Either way, it was clear this guy was not looking at her for her body.
Shrugging a bit when he spoke of handling his own soul stone studies, she took a few steps away from him before pausing and turning back to face him. His jab about her being a bad teacher made her huff in laughter and amusement. "As if I'd waste my time." She replied though her tone was somewhat quiet like his had been, the comment not technically aimed at him in general. She found that she was growing bored with him and a sigh slipped passed her lips just a before a yawn did.
"Good luck on your travels I suppose?" She answered somewhat plainly, as if she didn't know how to wish someone off as they headed out on an adventure. "Tell your sister I said hello." Nayva added, smirk on her face as she headed back towards her tree again. She scaled it quickly and found her perch once again, settling herself down to rest again. Her last comment had been quite a shot in the dark but she had come across an annoyingly bubbly female earlier in the day that had similar coloring and even more similar eyes. Whether they were related or not was a completely different question but she figured she'd throw it out there to see if he'd bite.

She shrugged and began to turn, as if his conversation had entirely bored her. He exhaled slowly through his nostrils, half-lidded gaze turning away from her as she began to walk away. It wasn't surprising to him really, though it always stirred a strange emotion in him when someone turned away from his company so callously. He wasn't much of a talker, and this jaguar's demeanor certainly didn't make conversation any easier. As if I'd waste my time. She huffed out an almost childish retort and he had to fight the urge to roll his eyes. He shifted his weight, eyes closing before he lifted his shoulders in another shrug when she turned back to him. "It's good we're in agreement then," he said simply, before a stirring in the trees behind her captured his attention.
He glanced past her, bright eyes flicking across the varying shades of green before her silky voice caught his ears again. Good luck on your travels I suppose? He turned his head slowly back toward her, the corner of his lips curling ever so slightly as he dipped his nose in thanks. His muscles moved and his body leaned forward as he started to take a step, assuming that the conversation was finished. Tell your sister I said hello.
He stopped instantly, eyes widening as his hair bristle. Dantai's dial turned to look at her but she was already moving away, thick black body hoisting itself up into the tree once more. His lips parted slightly and his brow creased as he watched her recline again, making herself comfy before looking back to him with a knowing smirk. How could she possibly know he had a sister? It had been weeks since Dantai had seen the lioness; had she come looking for him and happened across this jaguar first? His ears curled back as he swallowed thickly, but he leveled his expression, trying to appear impassive. "How do you know that I have a sister when I haven't so much as you told my name yet?" he questioned, taking a couple slow strides closer to her tree.
At first when he turned away, she wasn't sure if their conversation would go any further. But as she spoke her comment about his sister, that seemed to be quite enough to catch his attention once more. Her smirk only broadened when she saw him stiffen at the words. Jackpot. So this was the brother of the lioness she'd met a couple days earlier. That was an interesting twist of events. While she hated to admit it, she liked the female lion far more than she cared for her brother.
Stretching out on her limb once again, she acted as if she hadn't noticed the fact that she'd hit a nerve with her words. How do you know that I have a sister when I haven't so much as you told my name yet? She forced her smirk away a bit and began to casually run her pink tongue across her black coat, smoothing down any loose pieces of fur that may be sticking up. "You two look quite similar." She began, glancing down at him with a barely interested look before going back to her grooming. "That and she told me she had a brother wandering around out here. Naive little thing, she is." Nayva added, a slight frown crossing her face when she spoke of the naive and innocent lioness.
While she of course had caused no harm to the female and had actually been much more pleasant to her than what was usual for Nayva, she would much rather have fun with teasing the grumpy male. Maybe make him think twice about being so rude.

You two look quite similar. He wondered how certain she was that they were related, but decided his reaction had probably already given way to the truth. To be honest she didn't seem to be a cruel creature, and Dantai reasoned that it was unlikely that she'd done his sister any harm. You could never tell with her kind though; her soul stone wasn't black for no reason. That and she told me she had a brother wandering around our here. Naive little thing, she is. He watched her as she groomed herself, her interest in him apparently all but entirely diminished.
"Indeed; did she mention why she was in the jungle?" he questioned, lowering himself onto his haunches as he watched her. The tip of his tail flicked absently as he waited, thoughts wild with curiosity and concern. Why would Kilani risk herself by coming out into the jungle all by herself? She was too kind, too eager to interact and oblivious to the dangers of the world. The jungle was no place for soft souls like herself; she was going to get herself into trouble. Dantai wasn't sure exactly what he hoped to find by living in the jungle, but whatever it was would have to be on hold. The jungle was a bit place and he had a potentially extensive search ahead of him, but he knew he had to find her before someone else did.
"My name is Dantai, by the way," he divulged. Something about this new turn in their conversation made him feel more willing to know the cat and to let her know him as well.
Nayva paused in her grooming, icy blue eyes looking over the male and he lowered himself onto his haunches. He didn't seem to be too worked up by the fact that Nayva had run into his sister. His mood hadn't exactly changed either but now worry distracted him from his earlier rudeness, something Nayva was glad for. Maybe now he'd learn not to be so quick to disregard someone. You never knew what information they might know. Indeed; did she mention why she was in the jungle?
Pondering for a moment as she searched to recall what the lioness had said she was doing in the jungle, it finally came to Nayva and she straightened up a bit before speaking. "She said something about wanting adventure and freedom." Nayva recalled, her own thoughts turning back to think of her encounter with the lioness. While it hadn't started out very pleasurable, Nayva would be lying if she said she didn't enjoy the carefree company. And the fact that Kilani had asked about Nayva's black soul stone instead of jumping to conclusions made her even more tolerable than most.
My name is Dantai, by the way. She would admit she was a bit surprised when the male willingly offered up his name after their earlier exchanges where he'd acted as if he wanted nothing to do with her. But this new turn of events and mention of his sister must have made him much less worried about himself and keeping all of his secrets. "Nayva." She answered, dipping her head to him as he introduced himself as well.

The interaction was certainly a lesson for the young male. He would've never thought that a jaguar wielding a black soul stone could've ever had anything interesting to say to him. The conversation spelled nothing but trouble in Dantai's mind but much to the contrary she'd turned out to be the only link between him and his sister that he'd found in the vast jungle so far. If they'd parted ways earlier on like he had hoped he would've never learned that Kilani was out in the jungle as well, and he would've never known to look for her. It hurt the male's pride to admit he might have misjudged this one, but he would never say it aloud, of course.
She said something about wanting adventure and freedom. That made sense, he supposed. She was always so alive and full of energy, ready to take on the world. Perhaps if he'd been more attentive to her desires he could've taken her with him where she would be safe in her travels. He'd foolishly assumed she was happy there though, and that unlike him she would never leave the comfort of their parents' company. Nayva. He nodded his head curtly, acknowledge the introductions but not lingering on it. Nayva, he'd have to remember it. "Do you happen to have any idea which direction she was headed?" he questioned, feeling more of an urgency to begin his search with each passing moment. He lifted himself to his paws, shifting his muscles to stretch them briefly before shaking his thick mane out and taking a step forward. "I should find her, before she hurts herself," he commented, mostly to himself though it was loud enough for the jaguar to hear.

Nayva sat patiently as she waited for the male to finish with his thoughts. She could tell that he was already trying to figure out what to do with his sister once he found her as well as how he was going to find her. Her own mind drifted back to thoughts of the lioness she'd encountered and she would admit she didn't completely mind the female's company. Kilani was one of the few cats that Nayva wouldn't mind crossing paths with again. Mainly because instead of judging Nayva right away for the black soul stone hanging around her neck, she'd been curious about it and asked questions. Questions Nayva had never been asked before.
Do you happen to have any idea which direction she was headed? Her attention was drug back to the present when Dantai spoke to her again and she looked down at him before making a hmmm sound in the back of her throat. Putting her paw to her lips, she scanned the jungle as if she were trying to remember. "She headed that way, said she had to catch something to eat and find shelter before it rained tonight." Nayva replied, tilting her head a bit as she considered the male for a moment, trying to decide if she should share her opinion with him or not. I should find her, before she hurts herself. She heard his words though she knew they weren't technically aimed at her. "I'd suggest not scolding her when you do find her or you'll surely lose her again." Nayva spoke, knowing it probably wasn't her place to give him advice on his sister but from what she'd learned from Kilani, the female had left and wanted to avoid her brother for the sole reason of not getting scolded and bossed around.

She headed that way, said she had to catch something to eat and find shelter before it rained tonight. He exhaled slowly, head turning to stare out in the direction the cat had indicated. She appeared to be traveling deeper into the forest, away from both the city and the temple. He sighed and shook his head. "If you see her again, tell her I'm looking?"
His lips pursed and he cast her a glance with an undecipherable emotion. What in the hell had Kilani said to her to make her say such a think? It didn't matter truly; he wasn't intending on scolding her per say, but she wasn't suited for life in the jungle. Nayva could've easily killed her if she'd wanted to and yet he could only imagine that his sister had greeted her without a second's hesitation, bouncing into conversation like an eager cub. It was only in her best interest that she have company in such a dangerous place. He lifted himself onto his paws, figuring the time for their conversation to end had come. He stretched himself briefly, shaking his mane out before taking a step toward her, in the direction he'd originally been headed. "Noted," he said curtly, nodding briefly at her before starting to walk. "I should go; I need to find shelter that suits me as well."
