FALL - The temperature is starting to fall a bit as it starts to cool off. The sun isn't as hot and the relief from the heat is much needed.

The golden rays of the hot jungle sun fell upon every corner of the Lucis temple. Like water, it seemed to flood into the windows and illuminate the floors, trickle from the small imperfections of the ceiling, and leak into the weathered places of the wall. An invisible blanket of heat seemed to be swaddling all of the land during this season, but as a certain lioness rose from her slumber, the Lucis temple began to be a place of relief.
Larue's gray and sharp eyes flickered open rather than slowly rise like her body. Her brows began to slightly furrow as she stretched with a growl, mouth still slightly agape once she was done. She had only woken up and was already panting lightly. 'That just won't do.' she thought to herself, flickering her nose. The queen mother sat on her haunches and inhaled the stagnant air, concentrating to the point where she seemed to be petrified into that one spot and one position. Only then, she could feel as if she had tapped deep into the core of her stone. Only then did the light of her markings began to illuminate the floor. When she finally exhaled, it was as if her breath had magnified itself and pulsed through all of the temple. The wind began to circulate through the floor, some of its initial strength rushed its way up and down the levels as Larue began to make her way to the first floor.
Passing the fountain, she inhaled slowly and breathed out the cool wind that the waters could provide to especially cool the first level. The winds running out of the stone windows, filtering into the trees, and cycling back into the temple caused the flame atop it to not flicker, but be strengthened by the fanning. The elder grinned triumphantly, looking up to it and acknowledging what it symbolized. With the newer, cooler temple being energized by her aether, Larue looked out into the opening with a feeling that today would be fairly active compared to most of the temple, despite the leisuring weather.
The heat bounced in waves off Vino's pelt, sun rays piercing through the canopy of leaves above him and heating up the ground below his feet. The cicadas that rested on the bark of the trees chirped loudly as the cheetah walked by. Singing for a mate in the sweltering heat.
Beside him limped a small cub around 5 months old, favoring all but his left front paw as he walked. A splinter Vino discovered, after his son had gotten rowdy climbing the jungle wilderness. It was minor but if left untreated got cause long term harm in his abilities later on. Impacting his posture when stalking or even his running. Vino himself was not without a few bumps and bruises, being new to the area he struggled with adjusting and hunting in the new lands and failed more than he succeeded. He sported various cuts of different sizes around his body, they would heal in time as well but made it hard for him to hunt.
The cheetah had heard of a temple in the jungle that was home to those that wished to expand their soul stone abilities. That they offered free healing to creatures in need. Vino would not turn down such a rare opportunity, in fact he was nearing the temple now, seeing it up ahead. Hyro whined slightly as he walked, his injured paw hurting him every time he took a step. Vino licked his head in silent support, they where almost there.
Reaching the entrance immediately they where met with cool air, a sharp contrast to the outside heat and basked in it for a short moment before the cheetah called out. "Greetings, is anyone here? I am looking for healing."
The lioness returned to the entrance after roaming the floors of the temple and letting her mind wander at the sound of another calling out to her. Just as she thought (or perhaps envisioned, as the lines do get blurry sometimes) there was a cat visiting the otherwise lonely temple. But when she walked up the stairs to the floor where the voice had come from, she was taken by surprise. This cat seemed to have brought a tinier cat along with him.
Her heart hurt a bit when she had seen the limp of the little one and the uncomfort etched across his face. She didn't even have to get a closer look to know it was a splinter. With three rowdy and adventurous boys and an earth-loving girl, it was a pretty common occurrence when they were younger. She didn't let her eyes stay onto the child too long, however. In respect to the guardian, she gave him her undivided attention when she spoke. "You have come to the right place. I am Larue Katsaros, healer of this temple, and I will be more than happy to assist you. I'll assume you want the little one treated first?" she said in a lighthearted tone, offering the cub a smile. "If you will excuse me for a moment..." Larue apologized, wondering outside. She looked around to the trees to see the nearby nesting birds. After getting the attention of one, she walked back in with the tiny and brightly colored avian flying behind her. "When I have to work with tiny paws like this, its better to be safe than sorry." she explained with a chuckle. The bird landed onto the floor between the two of them, and when Larue had its attention, she touched her nose against the raised paw. The bird watched this notion with a tilt of its head and approached cautiously, looking to Larue for a sense of security as it neared the young hunter. Once it was clear it wouldn't become prey, it looked at the paw, blinked a few times, and plucked the splinter from his paw while flying away all in one swift motion.
"Well then," Larue sighed with relief and a chuckle. "With that taken care of, lets get started with the healing. Shall we move towards the fountain?" she suggested to the father.
Vino let out a sigh of relief when a figure came into his vision, a healer of the temple he presumed. It was a light colored lioness, she spared a glance at Hyro before settling on the Cheetah. Vino nodded in greeting.
"You have come to the right place. I am Larue Katsaros, healer of this temple, and I will be more than happy to assist you. I'll assume you want the little one treated first?"
"Greetings Larue, I am Vino and this is my son Hryo and yes I would prefer if he is taken a look at first, my main concern is his paw I believe he may have a splinter." The cheetah explained calmly, feeling bad for the quiet whimper his son gave. Vino accepted her apology and sidestepped to let her pass to access the outside of the temple watching with curiosity as she returned with a bright bird flying behind her seemingly obeying all her commands. The cheetah nodded at her explanation and simply continued to watch wordlessly, fascinated by how the bird approached Hyro and plucked the splinter from his paw. The cub flinching at first but once it was over and done with back to his happy playful self giving Larue a polite thank you once Vino nudged his cub as a reminder for manners which Vino followed with a "Thank you" of his own.
"With that taken care of, lets get started with the healing. Shall we move towards the fountain?" Fountain? The cheetah pondered for a minute, not quite sure of the connection between that and the healing but he had heard of healing water before and figured it might have something to do with that, either way he agreed and began to set off, carrying a steady if not albeit slow pace behind the lioness, letting her lead the way. Hyro curiously bouncing behind them in tow. The temple seemed relatively quiet aside from the buzz of noise coming from the jungle, he wondered if the temple saw much patients he had heard the beings here focused not only on healing but on their soul stone abilities as well, perhaps there was some truth in that. "Have you been here long?" He asked simply, at an attempt to build conversation. While he wasn't the most outgoing cat he found he was curious about the lioness.
It was great to see such youth in the young cheetah. He was so spirited, no sooner was the splinter removed was the memory of the pain forgotten from his body. What she would give to have such resilience again! Well, at least by her own works. She could heal, but there was always a sacrifice to be had; healing made her physically tired. It could range as anything from a quick run-tired to about to faint-tired, but tired nonetheless.
The (relatively) young parent was very mature and respectful of a father, but Larue and the cub both didn't care much for looking poised; though her stature was that of a regal queen, her smile was like a giddy young cub happy to see her friends coming to visit her today. It wasn't often that the temple saw company after all, especially company for her. The jungle cats were typically too proud for healing, and it was rare that they would bring their cubs to another cat, which they typically saw as a threat. It meant two things; this cat was special, and he could put his and his son's needs over his pride and that the temple was gaining the positive, trustworthy reputation that Larue was hoping for. "You could say that. It certainly feels long when things are calm and quiet around here. What about you? Are you from these parts of the jungle?" Larue inquired, listening as she worked.
Once Larue got to the fountain, she turned to face Hyro again. She sat in front of him, her cheerful expression suddenly calming to something more gentle and tender. She went to a place in her mind and heart; a place long in the past but never forgotten, and could be brought back for the sake of helping others. She recalled fondly memories of her family and now close they all used to be, way back when her cubs were even younger than the one in front of her, and a warmth radiated in her core as her marks began to glow a dull gold. Pressing her nose against the young one's temple, the lights radiated stronger. The breaths leaving from her nose and mouth were like flowing golden threads that washed over the cub and sank into him, revitalizing and healing sickness and injury from the inside before clearing the small damage of what could be seen outside. With that being done, a small pant began to escape from her lips. She turned to the fountain and let the flowing waters run down her muzzle and into her mouth. Before turning back and wiping it with a nearby cloth. "The fountain, like everything in this temple, is free to all who come to it."
As they walked towards the fountain the cheetah couldn't help but take in the area of the temple. It's structure was unlike anything he'd ever seen and was fascinated by all it's qualities, from every groove to every crack in the stone. He listened attentively as the lioness spoke, there was a quality about her that was inviting, despite her regal-esqe stature her smile was warm and Vino found himself relaxing slightly around her. Shoulders dipping ever so lightly, he blamed it on the fatigue though as he would never admit to letting his guard down around a stranger.
Larue responded with a question of her own and Vino took a moment to contemplate it. He wasn't from anywhere really, his nomadic lifestyle never gave him much options for settling down. He shook his head in reply, "No, I am not native to this jungle although I am currently staying there until I am settled into the city." He replied, referring to Naxorus. He doesn't think he will miss the jungle much, the terrain is too foreign for him the meals are not what he is used to either but as much as he would like to return to the plains he knows he would not be able to give Hyro a good life there.
As they approached the fountain Vino quieted himself, giving the lioness silence in case she needed to concentrate. She sat in front of Hyro and began her healing, golden marks increasing in vibrancy as she went. Vino fidgeted in his seat he didn't know what she was doing or how it would affect his cub so he kept a close eye, preparing himself in case at any moment he needed to intervene. Hyro didn't show any signs of distress however and almost eagerly sank into her touch. The cheetah felt a pang of guilt, it had been a long time since Hyro had felt a mother's touch and Vino had never been as affectionate as his late mate had been.
When Larue was done Hyro looked better than ever, any of his small physical injures where gone and his spotted coat was smooth and took on a nice healthy hue. Vino breathed out a sigh of relief and gave the cub a comforting nuzzle before also turning his attention to the fountain. Thanking the lioness for her offer. He approached the edge curiously, looking into the crystal clear liquid, occasionally catching a glimpse of his own reflection. Amber eyes peered back at him as Vino approached the water and dipped his muzzle in as well taking a few small sips as he felt the cooling liquid wash over his body, revitalizing him and giving him new found energy. "Incredible, I have never had such a thing." Looking back to Larue he briefly wondered how she was holding up, she had let out a pant after healing Hyro perhaps it took more energy than the Cheetah had expected. "Do you require a break? I do not need the healing as much as my son, with the water alone I am already feeling revitalized."
It sounded like Vino had come from quite a far distance to be here. It filled Larue with so much joy to hear that he was planning on joining Naxorus. The word of the kingdom must be spreading beyond the jungle, and from what she could tell, the word was good.
Larue was glad that Vino was feeling refreshed, but she still felt the need to heal him. A parent has to be in the best condition they can possibly muster to care for their young, especially when they are around the age Hyro is. She shrugged off his concern with a laugh that was low and relaxed. "Oh no, I'm not tired. Healing generates a lot of warmth and dehydration can sneak up on you." Larue stated with a flick of her tail.
Larue walked over to the father, treating him with the same gentle gestures as she did with his son. She wasn't ashamed to share such an awkward notion with another strange cat. To Larue, there was no shame where there was justice, and nothing was more just than supporting a hard working parent. Letting the streams of gold escape her and enter into the other, she pulled away only when she felt her very core warming to match the summer heat.
"There," the lioness started happily with a hint of pride in her voice. "You should feel a lot peppier for many days to come. Why not take the most advantage of this? I'd gladly go on a hunting trip with you if you have the time." being the scorching day that it was, Larue doubted there would be much competition on the hunting grounds. Combined that with the likelyhood that the prey would be huddled together at a waterway and partially fatigued themselves.
