Reeves had thought he would never see Jaali Issa or her sister Vira ever again and yet Vira had been standing right in front of him when he'd gone to visit his mother at Lucis Temple. Larue had of course remembered Vira and Jaali and had welcomed the weaker sister into their ranks without question. She'd been doing her best to heal Vira but there was only so much she could do. She could just keep her from getting sick again so that her immune system would last a little while longer.
When Reeves had asked where Jaali was, Larue had said she'd gone out into the jungle to find some way to heal Vira. Confused and a bit worried for the female tiger, Reeves had decided to go find her. He knew the jungle very well after traveling it for so long so who would be better to help her find whatever it was she was looking for than him.
He'd been searching for Jaali for the past couple of days when no lucky but finally he was able to catch a faint scent that seemed familiar to him. He was hoping that it was her scent though it had been a few years since he'd seen her last. They had both been adolescents, not yet fully grown into their paws or ears.
Weaving his way expertly through the undergrowth, Reeves finally caught sight of a striped pelt. Rounded ears pricking, Reeves smiled as he recognized the female tiger. "Jaali!" He called, picking up his pace so he could catch up to her.

The noon high sun glared down at Jaali through the dense foliage of the jungle trees and felt like red hot daggers on her fur. The tiger had been moving through the dense jungle through since the break of dawn and has not stopped since. She had been abruptly brought out of her deep sleep that morning by an unending sense of being watched. An inexplicable panic had seized her heart in a vice-like grip and urged her to lurch to her paws and take off into the jungle like a hunted rabbit. Eventually she had been forced to slow down to a jogging pace by sheer force of her exhaustion but the feeling of being watched never left her. If anything, as the sun continued to cross the sky, the feeling of being pursued escalated.
Jaali had no idea why her instincts had forced her into such a prey-like mentality. For some reason her Soul Stone had been pulsing with its own heartbeat since she had awoken. She suspected that the two instances were related but could not for the life of her slow her frantic thought process enough to truly ponder the phenomenon. Even now as Jaali crashed clumsily through the undergrowth she could not take even a moment to rest her aching paws for her instincts were screaming at her to RunRunRun!
Jaali glared down at her Soul Stone between her agitated breathes. "What are we running from?" She muttered. The Soul Stone, obviously, didn't answer but continued to pulse with an eerie resemblance to a heartbeat.
A cry of her name had Jaali's beating chest kick up yet another notch until her pulse resembled that of a hummingbird. Despite her Soul Stone pushing Jaali to bolt into the depths of the forest, the stubborn tiger instead halted her run entirely and wheeled around to face her pursuer. When a lion emerged from the jungle, Jaali had a sudden horrible flashback to the lions that had killed her family. Her entire body tensed for attack and her lips pulled back from her teeth in a threatening snarl. "How do you know my name?" Jaali demanded, taking a threatening step forward.

Reeves had been caught up in his excitement at finding her that he hadn't considered the fact that she may not remember who he was, let alone recognize him. The last time they'd seen each other they had both in their awkward teenage years where they still hadn't fully grown into their paws yet and it was pretty obvious that they looked much more grown up than they had years ago.
Reeves slid to a stop as she whipped around to face him with anger in her eyes. How do you know my name? A bit of confusion and a twinge of hurt was on the male's face as he tilted his head to the side a bit, not taking another step forward but instead taking one back when she came towards him, her anger not wavering. "It's me... Reeves Katsaros?" He replied, wondering if his name would be enough to make her realize who he was.
"My mother, Larue, use to send me with healing supplies every day to help your sister Vira." He added, hoping that would help clear up any confusion that was still lingering between them. His rounded ears pricked forwards and he put on a small smile, trying to show that he was at least friendly, even if she didn't recognize him yet. The last thing he wanted to do was have to defend himself against an old friend.

Jaali's tail was lashing back and forth in anger as she mentally shook off her bad memories and looked at the lion more closely. She had a nagging feeling she had seen him somewhere before but just couldn't quite put her finger on it. Taking a moment to look the lion up and down more carefully, Jaali racked her memory for who he might be. Truth be told, her memory wasn't exactly the greatest after having been stuck in the jungle for several years without much cat interaction. The only other cats she had met were mentors who offered to teach her more about her Soul Stone. Other than that, her interaction with other cats was minimal at best.
Jaali watched the lion's face carefully and saw the confusion and momentary hurt. Her heart throbbed in guilt for a moment before she focused once more on her anger. She pinned her ears flat to her head as she softened her expression for threatening anger to suspicion. His name resounded in her head like an echoing gong. "Reeves?" Jaali repeated, confusion clearly in her voice. The sudden image of a teenage lion sitting at her side as the two of them talked quietly over Vira's sick bed came to mind. Of course! The lion they had met in Naxorus who brought supplies to help keep her sister alive. Jaali's entire form changed, her ears perked forward with interested and a grin slide over her face. "Reeves!" Jaali chirped and jumped forward to close the gap between the two of them. The tiger butted her head against his shoulder as an affectionate greeting. "You have no idea how happy I am to see you. It's been years! I'm sorry I didn't recognize you." Jaali pulled back to grin happily at him. "What are you doing all the way out here? I thought you lived in Naxorus?" In fact, the last time she had seen Reeves was several days before she and Vira had left for Lucis Temple. Jaali had always felt a little guilty that she had left so suddenly without telling Reeves goodbye, but time had been of the essence. They had to leave for Lucis Temple as soon as possible to get Vira the help she needed.

Reeves remained where he was, he could tell that she was mulling over her memories, trying to figure out if she really knew him or not. He kept his small smile on his face, his body in a bit of a submissive position as her anger initially flashed across her face. It took awhile for her body language to change. Reeves? Reeves! After a few moments it seemed as if she finally realized who he was because all signs of anger were gone and she was bounding towards him before she butted her head against his shoulder in greeting. He rubbed his cheek against her shoulder when she greeted him, a wide smile on his face now that she realized who he was.
You have no idea how happy I am to see you. It's been years! I'm sorry I didn't recognize you. Reeves chuckled and smiled at her as he straightened up a bit. "It's alright, I know I can be pretty intimidating." He answered, putting on a funny looking angry face before smiling again. What are you doing all the way out here? I thought you lived in Naxorus?"I was traveling out in the jungle for a year or two. But I'm back in Naxorus now. What are you doing out here?" He asked, tilting his head to the side a bit as he waited for her answer.
"I came looking for you because I went to visit my mom at Lucis Temple and I saw Vira there. Is she doing alright?" He added, figuring he should probably explain the reason why he had been hunting her down in a way. Reeves remembered Jaali's little sister as well. He'd met the two when they'd come to Naxorus, orphaned with no family and needing medical help. Vira had lost her soul stone on their journey to Naxorus and now any small illness could kill her if she didn't get the proper healing.

Jaali returned Reeves' smile twofold and drew back to look him over. He had certainly changed from the last time she had seen him. He was bigger obviously, but not as big as some lions she has met in her lifetime. Either way, his eyes were still the same friendly blue she remembered.
"It's alright, I know I can be pretty intimidating."
The tiger snorted with laughter and rolled her eyes playfully. "I suppose we have different definitions of the word 'intimidating'." Jaali quipped, batting at Reeves playfully with her fore paw. She laughed out right at his silly face and shook her head ruefully. Jaali sat down on her hunches, flicking the end of tail contently.
"I was traveling out in the jungle for a year or two. But I'm back in Naxorus now. What are you doing out here?"
Jaali tilted her head to the side curiously. "Really? Its strange that we didn't come across one another then. I've been wandering around the jungle for two years now. I'm trying to find a way to save Vira." At her sister's name, Jaali cringed and looked away from Reeves. She missed her sister something fierce. Seeing Reeves again only made her miss Vira even more. It was like a physical ache in her chest.
"I came looking for you because I went to visit my mom at Lucis Temple and I saw Vira there. Is she doing alright?"
"You saw Vira? How did she look? What did she say?" Jaali asked, distress clear in her tone. The tiger shook her head sadly and stood up to begin pacing before Reeves. "She isn't getting better, Reeves. She still gets sick and every time she gets weaker and weaker. I don't- I don't know how much longer she can last. I'm afraid I might be too late." She admitted to Reeves, her voice shaking slightly. Her fears of losing her sister were enough to make her voice choked up and watery.

I suppose we have different definitions of the word 'intimidating'. Reeves grinned broadly at her words and attempted to duck out of the way of her flying paw only to not duck enough and get smacked in the head with it. He pretended to be hurt and rubbed the top of his head with a paw before grinning once more. "It's good to see you." He said, glad to see that she was alive and well. And she'd definitely done some growing up since the last time he had seen her. She'd filled out quite well and her paws didn't seem to be too big for her body like they had before. He had to pull his attention away from her body though because just the thought of how grown up she looked was making him blush a bit.
Really? Its strange that we didn't come across one another then. I've been wandering around the jungle for two years now. I'm trying to find a way to save Vira. At the mention of her sister, Jaali's expression immediately saddened and she glanced away. Reeves knew how hard it was for her to have to watch her sister get sick time and time again simply because she'd been born with a weak immune system. And after the loss of her soul stone, there was only so much that could be done for her. You saw Vira? How did she look? What did she say? Reeves put on a smile as he attempted to cheer Jaali up. "She looked really good, better than I'd seen her in a long time. Told me to give you a smack for her and to tell you to come back and visit her at the Temple soon. She misses you." Reeves finished, his voice softening a bit as he forced a small smile on his face.
She isn't getting better, Reeves. She still gets sick and every time she gets weaker and weaker. I don't- I don't know how much longer she can last. I'm afraid I might be too late. Reeves sat down where he was as Jaali got up and began to pace in front of him, her words being far from cheerful. When she stopped and lowered her head, tears rising in her eyes, Reeves rose to his paws and moved towards her. "Don't say that, she's a tough little one. You'd be surprised what she can make it through. She even gave me a smack to give to you. And it almost hurt!" He spoke, trying to lift her spirits and make her feel better by teasing a bit about her sister smacking him.
Reeves nuzzled Jaali's cheek before pulling away enough to see her face. "Come on now, maybe I can help. What is your plan out here exactly? Have you got any ideas yet?" He asked, offering his assistance and hoping against all odds that they would be able to find a solution.

Jaali felt her heart melt a little at Reeves' cute gesture as he rubbed his head with his paw. It was a comical kitten-like gesture on a cat Reeves' size. In fact, his mannerisms hadn't changed at all since the last time Jaali had seen him. He was still the excitable, goofy Reeves.
"It's good to see you."
"It's good to see you too." Jaali replied softly, smiling at Reeves. It may have been years since they last saw one another, but she still considered him one of her best friends. When they had first met, it was under stressful circumstances. With Vira laying before them dying for all Jaali knew, it was nice to have Reeves at her side. Someone to take her mind off of the looming threat of her sister's death. Reeves had been like a breath of fresh air. Even now, after all these years, Jaali felt a pressure that she didn't know existed life off of her shoulders. It was enough to allow her to ignore the persistence of her Soul Stone, which continued to beat with the rhythm of runrunrunrun where it lay against her chest.
The panic that had seized her since that morning continued to wail in the back of her mind. Something in the depths of her Soul Stone urged her to turn her back on Reeves and keep moving. Under normal circumstances, Jaali would follow her instincts without hesitation but seeing Reeves again was an opportunity she just couldn't turn her back on. The tiger paused for a moment to glance down at the dark blue stone hanging from her chest by a withered rope. Her Soul Stone seemed to stare back at her balefully.
"She looked really good, better than I'd seen her in a long time. Told me to give you a smack for her and to tell you to come back and visit her at the Temple soon. She misses you."
Jaali let out a sigh of relief. She hadn't visited her sister in months. She had been combing through the jungle with a single minded intensity that left no room for lingering hesitation or time to ponder about her lonely sister. "I'm relived to hear she's doing better. I worry about her all the time." Jaali admitted to Reeves.
The tiger rubbed a paw against her face, feeling her eyes burn with unshed tears. She stopped her pacing and took several long, deep breathes to try to get control of herself. Between seeing Reeves again and talking about her sister, she felt the exhaustion wane on her heart.
"Don't say that, she's a tough little one. You'd be surprised what she can make it through. She even gave me a smack to give to you. And it almost hurt!"
"Yeah." Jaali said, trying to muster up some courage. "You're probably right. I'm just over reacting. Sorry." She shook herself roughly. She had to get ahold of herself. Jaali threw back her shoulders and raised her head to meet Reeves' gaze unwavering. She felt bad about unloading on him so soon after seeing him again. Jaali gave him an apologetic smile and returned his nuzzle sweetly.
"Come on now, maybe I can help. What is your plan out here exactly? Have you got any ideas yet?"
Jaali nodded her head at his question and launched into her plan eagerly. "Before I left Naxorus City, I meet someone. A cat named Axl. He said that the key to saving Vira lay in the power of my Soul Stone." She explained, taking up her pacing again but this time out of excitement. "I've been talking to anyone who will listen and learning from them. The jungle is full of cat who hold knowledge of the Soul Stones. One of them has to know something that can help my sister. I just have to find them."

It's good to see you too. Now that the two of them were together again, he could remember their time as youngsters as if it had been yesterday. He remembered when they would joke around, mainly because he was trying to get Jaali's mind off of the terrifying condition that her sister was fighting day in and day out. He'd tried to be her comic relief when life got to serious, even if it wasn't always the easiest thing to do. And he hadn't changed from all those years ago. He still liked to make others happy and lighten the mood. Life was really good at getting others down so he figured if he could lift them up every once and awhile then he was doing a pretty good job.
I'm relived to hear she's doing better. I worry about her all the time. Reeves forced a small smile and was glad when she stopped her pacing and took a few deep breaths to calm herself down a bit. Yeah. You're probably right. I'm just over reacting. Sorry. Reeves smiled a bit bigger when she seemed to have calmed down a bit. "Don't worry about it. That's what I've always been here for, remember? Being right and making you laugh." He replied, wide grin on his face as he hoped to lighten the mood a bit more. He hated for their reunion to be marred by sadness.
Reeves questioned her about her plan and she soon began pacing in front of him again but this time it seemed to be out of excitement rather than sadness. Before I left Naxorus City, I meet someone. A cat named Axl. He said that the key to saving Vira lay in the power of my Soul Stone. I've been talking to anyone who will listen and learning from them. The jungle is full of cat who hold knowledge of the Soul Stones. One of them has to know something that can help my sister. I just have to find them. Her words definitely seemed like she had a plan but he was a little worried about her plan. He knew, better than anyone, how the Soul Stones could turn cats into someone they weren't if they got too tangled up in the magic they possessed. And while Jaali wanted the powers to save her sister, there was no telling what lengths she would go to in order to get them.
"You've got to be careful when it comes to the Soul Stones.." Reeves warned, a bit of worry etched on his face as he watched her in her pacing. "They can do great and wonderful things but also dark and terrible things. It's a fine line to walk."
