The Origins Of Kyon

In the beginning, the big cats always thought that they were the first to discover the soul stones and the abilities that they could unlock. Now, they have become aware of the canines who have been living in the Vikos Jungle for far longer than them. Not only have they been living in the jungle longer, they've also known how to master the soul stones generations before the felines even discovered them.

Approximately 50 years ago, the canines that now reside in the lands of Kyon lived with humans. These humans had constructed what is now known to the felines as Naxorus. It was a jungle city built from stone that included dirt roads, stone and wooden houses as well as a stone palace that sat on the peak of a hill overlooking the rest of the city. The humans flourished in their well built city and their canine companions lived side by side with them. They helped them hunt, fish, fight and protect their families. 

The humans were the first to discover the soul stones. Each person was gifted one stone at their birth and they kept it with them their entire lives. The stones were said to strengthen the humans and help them heal diseases as well as improve their natural survival abilities. The soul stones were only used for good in the city of humans and the canines learned from their humans. They saw how anyone using the stones for any other purpose than to heal and protect was banished from the city.

About 20 years of peace passed but one night, that peace was ripped to shreds. Late at night when the city was sleeping, an earthquake tore through the jungle, shaking everything to the core. Buildings were crumbled, people were swallowed into the ground and destruction and death was everywhere. Some of the canines stayed by their humans' sides in an attempt to protect them from mother nature while some fled into the jungle, looking for shelter themselves. When the ground calmed and the shaking finally stopped, the city of the humans had been ruined.

Over half of the humans living in the city had been killed in the quake along with a lot of the canines. Gathering what they could find and saving those they could save, the humans left the jungle to travel far from the danger zone they had once lived in. A few of the canines went with the humans but most of them stayed behind, taking to the jungle that they had always called home. Leaving the city, the pack of canines led by Midas Valantis, headed into the less dense part of the jungle where they soon set up their own home.

The crumbled city now behind them, the canines went in search of the Ektos Cavern where the humans retrieved their soul stones. Once they'd found it, it didn't take them long to realize that the stones had similar, if not stronger effects on the canines than they had on the humans. Giving them unnatural abilities and colors, the canines spent the next few years learning all they could about what the soul stones could bring them. Holding fast to the traditions of the humans, any canine that was suspected or convicted of using the soul stones for evil was to be banished from the Kyon pack.

Now, almost 30 years since the devastating earthquake took place, Midas Valiantis' offspring still lead the Kyon pack even though he is gone. While some of the elder canines still remember what it was like to live with the humans, many of them are long gone, leaving their children and grandchildren with the stories of their long past memories.

It wasn't until recently that the canines came into contact with the felines who have taken up residence in the city the felines now call Naxorus. The leader of the Kyon pack has been working closely with the leader of Naxorus as well as the leader of the Lucis Temple in order to try and keep the peace between the two races to avoid an unnecessary war.
